The University Library at Appalachian State University seeks a creative and energetic E-Resources Librarian to join a&lt;br /&gt;team-oriented, teaching library. This newly created position is part of the Bibliographic Services team of 16 members (6 faculty, 7 specialists, 3 technicians) which acquires, catalogs, and processes library resources in all formats.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The successful candidate will work closely with the Bibliographic Services Team members and other library colleagues to create a comprehensive approach to the management of electronic resources.  Our goal is to provide a seamless and transparent digital research environment for students and faculty. The Executive Director of the Lexington Public Library reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees—appointed by the Mayor of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and approved by the Urban County Council—and partners with LFUCG departments, state and federal officials, and civic/professional organizations and groups to achieve the Library’s mission and goals within the context of community needs and priorities. A master’s degree in library science (supplemented by coursework in management and administration) and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible public library experience in a management position, including at least four years of executive level experience as director of a smaller library system, or deputy, assistant, or associate director of a comparable or larger system.  Essential attributes include: personal integrity and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to address conflicting goals and build consensus; a thorough knowledge of financial management; collaboration and consensus-building skills; sensitivity, flexibility, and creativity; and a solid understanding of philosophy, trends and “best practices” in the library and information technology fields. Randall Library uses a variety of commercial services to assist in serials management, including Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s Millennium ILS (including CASE, ERM and Web Bridge), EBSCO’s EBSCOnet, OCLC’s Connexion, and Swets’ Scholarly Stats. The successful candidate will have familiarity with the serials industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent technology skills with openness to emerging technologies. Major activities for this position include communicating with vendors and publishers, supervising 2 full time staff, trouble-shooting access problems, and cataloging and maintaining holdings for print and electronic serials. The successful candidate must also possess a strong commitment to user services, including some reference service. Active participation in the development of library services is also required.  Library faculty at UNCW engage in scholarship resulting in publications, conference presentations and other evidence of scholarly efforts.  Reports to the Associate University Librarian for Technical and Collection Services.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;REQUIREMENTS: MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program. Must have two years of experience working with electronic resources and serials access and management, and one year of experience supervising at least one full time employee. Requires cataloging skills, including knowledge of AACR2, MARC21 format for bibliographic and holdings records, LCSH, OCLC &amp; CONSER guidelines. Must be proficient in using advanced features of Excel or other spreadsheet software. Requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills and a strong service orientation.
