GENERAL SUMMARY: The Career Resource Center (CRC) Librarian responds to thousands of requests for information from students and alumni. This position is responsible for research, development, and delivery of career research materials and instruction for 2,000 students enrolled in the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago Booth) part-time MBA programs in Chicago, London, and Singapore and more than 40,000 alumni worldwide. The CRC Librarian plays a key role in the transfer of knowledge and ideas by providing students with access to a wide range of information to facilitate their career advancement efforts including frequent instructional programs on the relevant research tools. This individual manages all aspects of the CRC, supervises a CRC staff, and works with departmental colleagues to develop complementary and collaborative programming to enhance the overall success of Career Services.

The Librarian determines the overall vision and strategy for the CRC, including physical space, staff, new resources, and new programs. This person develops and continually monitors best practices. In addition, the Librarian is expected to acquire, maintain, and apply expert knowledge of resources and disseminate that knowledge to relevent constituencies via one-on-one consultations, presentations, and the web (or other forms of media). Lastly, this individual coordinates resources and relationships amongst the Harper Center Library, Regenstein Library, Computing Services, Faculty, other Booth departments/centers, and Career Services team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. As the librarian, determine overall vision and strategy for the CRC including physical space, staff, new resources and new programs. Develop and continually monitor best practices.
• Assess information needs through daily interactions with patrons, feedback from various groups/constituencies, and reference interviews. Evaluate the outcomes of information use and conduct research related to the solution of information management problems.
• Form partnerships with peer schools' information services to optimize resource sharing.
• Coordinate with the Project Management team to develop all marketing efforts for the CRC and related resources. Appropriately market and build the CRC brand with various constituencies, especially student and alumni groups, establishing the CRC as a desired destination and a valuable aspect of Career Services.
• Develop performance measures, including frequency of use of services and patron satisfaction. Seek opportunities for improvement and strive to be the best in class on key services.
• Work closely with the Harper CRC Librarian in developing policies, procedures, collections strategy, resource development, vendor management and best practices.
• Train, coordinate and oversee an effective information services team.

2. Acquire, maintain and apply expert knowledge of resources and disseminate that knowledge to relevant constituencies one-on-one, via presentations, and via the web (or other forms of media).
• Manage and evaluate print and online versions of databases; complete thorough analysis for new acquisitions and current subscriptions. Maintain positive relationships with all vendors.
• Prepare and monitor the allocations of an annual resource budget.
• Develop and deliver instructional programs and presentations to students and staff on overall resources, and functional, industry and geographic specific resources/searches as well as various databases, web sites and tools. Develop related instructional materials (resource guides, how to’s, presentations, etc) to be delivered live, via webinar/webcast or in a pre-recorded instructional video.
• Know and keep up with "the best" journals and electronic resources in specific areas of business that directly meet the needs of clients. Develop specialized subject knowledge appropriate to student career interests.
• Master the content of information services, as well as the ability to critically evaluate, filter and deliver content effectively to students, staff and employers. Develop and maintain fluency in current trends in MBA careers and job market, industries, and specific companies.
• Synthesize and disseminate articles, trends and blurbs that are relevant to both staff members and student groups in an ongoing effort to transfer knowledge and market the resources available.
• Use appropriate information technology to acquire, organize and disseminate information.
• Maintain an online catalog of the library collection.
• Train staff in using the resources available and support the efforts of the corporate-facing teams, including Employer Development and Relationship Management teams, by providing insight into industry trends, companies hiring/laying off, and overall target list and research resources to streamline their efforts.

3. Coordinate resources and relationships amongst the Harper Center Library, Regenstein Library, Computing Services, Faculty, other Booth departments/centers and Career Services team.
• Work with the Harper Center Career Resource Center to coordinate all resources, programs and materials.
• Work with Marketing and Computing Services to maintain online resources and manage all web site content and material related to the Career Resource Center.
• Maintain relationships witht the main campus library staff and update Career Services on any relevant news regarding resources.
• Foster relationships and facilitate appropriate usage of materials across departments.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Senior Associate Director, Career Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. Master’s degree in library science or library information science required.
3. Experience using a variety of media for presentations, including in-person and virtual (webinars, etc.) preferred.
4. Knowledge of library operations and technology required.
5. Interest in reference and training/instruction required.
6. Proven ability to work successfully and collaboratively with a diverse population of individuals and/or colleagues required.
7. Demonstrated ability regarding library research databases such as OneSource, Factiva, ABI/Inform, etc. required.
8. Unconditional commitment to superior customer service required.
9. Excellent organizational, communication, supervisory and management skills required.
10. Proven ability to work well in cross-functional teams required.
11. Ability to work independently required.
12. Demonstrated superb presentation skills required.
13. Ability to exercise good judgment under pressure in accordance with seasonal high volume workflow and to maintain a sense of perspective under stressful circumstances required.
14. MS Office software skills required.
15. Ability to work evenings and weekends required.
16. Occasional international travel required.
17. Ability to work in multiple office locations as required.
18. Interest in MBA curriculum and career goals of MBA students as well as strong sensitivity to goals of Chicago Booth preferred.
