Asst Director of Web Strategies/Communications

Job description:

The Assistant Director manages and advances the College’s website, currently located at spc.edu. This includes administration of the content management system (Sungard’s SiteBuilder Toolkit), providing training and support to departmental editors, reviewing content for appropriateness, monitoring/reporting analytic data, developing content for the homepage and other key areas of the site, posting emergency notices on the website when required, coordinating web development projects with the Web Services team, and shaping the site’s navigation. Supporting departmental page owners often entails creating forms, processing images, providing clear and concise documentation, and creating url redirects. The position reports to the Director of Web Strategies and Communications and entails fulfilling other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• bachelor degree in a relevant field;
• must have a demonstrated understanding of best practices regarding usability, user centric design, accessibility, search engine optimization, and coding standards;
• experience with XHTML, CSS, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Google Analytics;
• solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions;
• experience managing multiple projects simultaneously;
• ability to analyze Web traffic data and prepare reports highlighting key information, trends and opportunities;
• the ability to research solutions to technical problems;
• the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members;
• enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills and a willingness to stay abreast of emerging technologies;
• strong written, verbal and visual communication skills; and
• experience preparing and embedding audio, video, and Flash in Web sites.

• work experience in a higher education environment

With a focus on user centric design, accessibility, SEO, and coding standards he/she administers the content management system (Sungard’s Sitebuilder Toolkit), providing training and support to departmental editors, reviewing content, monitoring analytics, developing content for the homepage and other key areas of the site, coordinating projects with the Web Services team, and shaping the site’s architecture.
