Program Officer, Continuing Education

The American Library Association seeks a Program Officer, Continuing Education for its Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) division. Reporting to the Executive Director you will manage the division’s continuing education program and related special projects as needed. Coordinate the planning, marketing, implementation and evaluation of all YALSA continuing education programs, including e-learning, licensed institutes, mentoring initiatives and certification programs. Work with member committees, instructors, curriculum developers, business contacts, YALSA staff and more as appropriate to facilitate the division’s continuing education program.

Requirements: A minimum of 3 years of similar work experience in adult learning and methods of delivery for continuing education, preferably with an association. Bachelor’s degree in education, communications or a related field also required. Must be able to handle multiple projects, shifting priorities and coordinate them from conception through delivery adhering to stated schedules. Demonstrated project management skills. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in developing and delivering continuing education in a variety of formats, in an association setting. Familiarity with the “library world” is a definite plus.

Salary range from $40,000; negotiable based on depth of experience/qualifications.
