Part-time Public Services Librarian

Job description:

Ivy Tech Community College of Central Indiana is seeking an energetic, well-organized individual to serve as part-time public services librarian at the Fairbanks Banks Center Library on the Lawrence Campus.
This entry level position (posting 0603549) offers the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the areas of reference assistance, bibliographic instruction, and collection development.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
* BA required
* MLS or work towards MLS required
* May need to work evening or Saturday hours. Will not work more than 23 hours/week.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to maintain tactful, pleasant and non-judgmental interactions with patrons
* A broad base of general knowledge of and ability to use book and journal collections to retrieve information
* Basic computer knowledge (including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and knowledge of automated library systems
* Strong ability to do online and database searching
* Ability to work as a team member, to work under stress and to process information quickly
* Able to demonstrate considerable patience and diplomacy and handle difficult situations to reach positive solutions
* Work on own initiative

Preferred Qualifications:
* Library public services experience
* Familiarity with academic catalogs, indexes, and databases
* Teaching experience
