Chemical Information Specialization and Master of Library Science
Candidates in this joint program receive the MLS degree and the Specialization. The Specialization will be noted on the transcript [effective for May 2009 graduates]. They must complete the MLS Foundation courses, and include in their elective courses S533 (L570) - Online Searching, S523 (L624) - Science and Technology Information, and Informatics I571 (Chemical Information Technology) or another course on chemical information chosen with the specialization advisor. Additional courses, chosen in consultation with advisors in SLIS and Chemical Informatics, will bring the total graduate credit hours to 36 for the MLS. Candidates for this specialization must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in chemistry.
