Chemical Information Specialization and Master of Information Science

Candidates in this 42 hour joint program receive the MIS degree and a certificate indicating the specialization. They must meet MIS Foundation course requirements (21 hours) and include in their elective courses S533 (L570) - Online Searching, S523 (L624) - Science and Technology Information, and Informatics I571 (Chemical Information Technology) or another course on chemical information chosen with the specialization advisor. Additional courses, chosen in consultation with advisors in SLIS and Chemical Informatics, will bring the total graduate credit hours to 42 for the MIS. Candidates for this specialization must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in chemistry. The MIS curriculum changed in the fall of 2007.)
