Congratulation SLIS 2009 Graduates!

Graduation Gift: Wednesday, April 29 - Friday, May 1, 2009 -- May, June and August Graduates - Please stop by the SLIS Office, Room 011 to pick up a small graduation gift in honor of your achievement. If you cannot come that day, please stop in earlier that week or during the following week.

SLIS will also set up a table in the SLIS Information Commons to help wish our graduates the best - with candy, pens, items from the IU Alumni Association. All SLIS students are welcome to these items to share in the end of the semester.


End of the Semester Picnic -

Saturday, May 2, 2009 -- Olcott Park, 2300 E. Canada Drive, Bloomington, IN 47401

This event was organized by the SLIS Student Chapters of Professional Associations - and it begins at 1:00 p.m. Notes on their invitation state: "The park includes a picnic shelter, a playground and lots of grass for croquet, volleyball, frisbee, soccer, etc. The picnic will include food/refreshments, games and activities, and SLIS talent..."


May Graduation Ceremony

Saturday, May 9, 2009 -- SLIS participates in the afternoon:
  • 1:30 p.m. Lineup at the Fieldhouse
  • 2:15 p.m. Procession Begins
  • 3:00 p.m. Commencement Ceremony in Assembly Hall
  • The University Ceremony is for tentative May, June, and August graduates. Diplomas are mailed 2-3 months after your degree is granted (by the Registrar's office). The ceremony is a nice event - with plenty of room for guests. http://www.commencement.iu.edu/

  • Preparing to Graduate Tips Sheet
  • If you are graduating in May, June, or August - be sure to complete a SLIS Graduation Application. Print the form from our website, complete, and give to Jill Clancy, SLIS Masters and Specialist Recorder. If you are in a dual degree program (with a department outside of SLIS), you will need to also apply with that department.
