MIS Graduates: We'd Like to Hear from You
![]() |
If you're one of SLIS's nearly 300 MIS graduates who did not receive our July 12 letter, then let us know where you are and what you're doing. Send your news and information to SLIS Director of Admissions and Placement Rhonda Spencer (spencerr@indiana.edu) and she'll make sure it gets to the IU Alumni Association. We'll even list your latest professional news in the class notes section of SLIS Network, our alumni magazine.
Send us your comments, too. We'd like know how your MIS degree is helping you make a difference.
Here is what two MIS graduates had to say:
- "The classes I completed in the MIS program have
helped me to continue to provide information ... I feel that the
health information field is an excellent opportunity for MIS
grads."
-- Health Information Administrator - "I use databases and evolving information systems
every day. My degree has given me tools to evaluate and improve
these systems."
-- Supervisor, Air Traffic Control -
This kind of feedback from grads encourages prospective students to apply to the MIS degree program.
Based on responses to our letter, positions occupied by MIS alumni include the following titles:
- Program and Systems Analyst
- Director of Operations (Scientific Publishing)
- Chief Financial Officer (Medical Consulting)

- Programmer/Analyst
- Director, Special Collections Research Center (College Library)
- Assistant Professor

MIS graduates of the future (like those today and in the past) will continue to make a difference in these ways:

- working with cultural preservation

- helping people digitally access irreplaceable documents
- providing knowledge management strategies to companies
- working with international aid projects

The MIS prepares students for these and many other creative jobs.
