2009 SLIS Doctoral Research Forum
On Saturday, October 17, 2009, eleven SLIS doctoral students gave presentations at the SLIS Doctoral Research Forum. This annual event provides an opportunity to showcase research, to develop professional skills, and to receive feedback from faculty and other students.
Information Access - Talk at SLIS 10/14/09
SLIS professor Debora Shaw, the faculty liaison to the Chi Chapter of Beta Phi Mu, sent the talk announcement below. Beta Phi Mu is the "international library and information studies honor society." Shannon Oltmann is a SLIS doctoral student.
B.J. Kish Irvine Graduate Scholarship in Art Librarianship
SLIS alumna B.J. Kish Irvine was the Head of the IU Fine Arts Library for 40 years. At her retirement, she established a scholarship to support students in the field of Fine Arts Librarianship.
Library of Congress Internship - American Folklife Center
SLIS Master of Library Science student Amy Jankowski completed a Junior Fellows Summer Internship with the Library of Congress in the American Folklife Center during Summer 2009. Amy worked on processing materials from different archival collections that support the Center’s mission to document and give access to resources focused on cultural traditions from around the world.

SLIS Ph.D. student Angela Zoss presented at the Information Kinetics: Egoviz workshop at Arteleku, a public art center, in Donostia, San Sebastián, Spain.
SLIS Student Curator for Lilly Library Automobile Exhibit
SLIS student Madeleine Thompson (MLS) is the curator for the current exhibit at the Lilly Library entitled "Are We There Yet? The Age of the Automobile." The exhibit will be on display until September 5, 2009.
