The SLIS Information Technology staff is here to help you. We provide
technology consultants the Shepherd Lab. Workshops are held, particularly at
orientation times, to help you know the resources available.
System Support Specialists
System Support Specialists are responsible for server administration, hardware and software troubleshooting and maintenance, information systems development, and direct support of the faculty and staff.
Support requests should be sent to root@slis.indiana.edu This helps route requests in a timely manner.
Support for the SLIS website and other web content services should be directed to slisweb@indiana.edu
Technology Consultants
In addition to providing user support in the labs, SLIS technology consultants set up equipment for instruction and help support the faculty and staff. The consultant can be found in the SLIS IC, look for the signs to help locate them. Consultant duties often require the staff to step away; if you cannot locate a consultant, they will likely return shortly.

If you have strong technology skills and are interested in part-time
positions, keep checking the SLIS-L listserv for openings. Preference for these positions is given
to SLIS students. The SLIS technology staff supports the labs, faculty, staff,
and classrooms for SLIS. All positions
provide good training and networking opportunities. Decisions about these
positions are made separately from the SLIS aid process.

The SLIS Technology Staff maintains a help system to help with common questions and difficulties.
UITS also has extensive computer support resources:
- Online Support (ie. Knowledge Base, IT Help Online)
- ITHelpLive (live chat with a consultant): Service available Monday-Friday. You'll need to supply your IU Network ID username and passphrase to access ITHelpLive.

- There is one 24 hour staffed computer lab on campus in the Library Information Commons, in the Herman B Wells Library. Other STC labs have varying staffing and hours—view the lab staffing schedule
